Let’s Talk Jocks Socks and Cocks

We are starting a new monthly feature at TURNIP STYLE – Jocks, Socks and Cocks.

Watch for new highlights on the 3rd Wednesday of each month!

    [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

This month we have started off with the innovative jockstrap designer Estevez and the Bruto Muscle Bear Jockstrap.   We follow that with some great mid calf, dual, socks from Sinner and to hold it all together a cock-ring that is a 3D print creation!   Follow this link here – or use the link in our footer throughout TURNIP STYLE.

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

We picked out this jockstrap because when Bruto jockstraps came onto the scene, things changed a bit. Not just for sport jockstraps with a fetish touch, but briefs as well as fashion jockstraps.

Always impeccably constructed and with the best materials. Bruto has a grasp on what it means to be a hunky sexy, stern but sexy bear.

Should be pretty obvious why we picked this socks from Sinner. The message is on point for edgy fashion at Sinner and these socks give you the perfect opportunity to show off those calves you been working on in the gym.

We certainly didn’t stop with the innovation there, which is what drew us to the Russell Hardware cock-ring. Printed with a 3D printer; solid, smooth, sleek and super strong. And at the same time, feels about as light as a feather.

After always having hefty thick and heavy cock-rings, this was a complete change in direction for me and I loved it. Find my review right here.

Excuse me sir, you are at the wrong gate.

How does a package; in a warehouse roughly 25km from me, end up in Massachusetts?   Via the Amazon of course.

    [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

I picked these specific USB keys, out of all the ones that I looked at, because it was pointed out that they were in the local warehouse.

Which, if the wind is blowing right, is spitting distance from the Canada Post warehouse.

I keep hope that one day, I actually get the 2 day prime delivery service, I pay for.

HOT TAKE: I am pretty sure I am not going to be getting these; I have already ordered a cheaper replacement with more storage space.

It is also not lost on me; the irony of trying to keep the carbon foot print in check, by ordering a product that was housed locally and that product is now in Massachusetts.

Road to hell — good intentions and all.

You will be relieved to know that pool maintenance has been completed. Thank you so much for all your messages of support during that difficult time.

No notice, of course, that the maintenance was completed. I bravely went up to check, amidst the elevator maintenance.

Whilst maintenance continues maybe I could take my IKEA folding chair, my phone with an extra power pack, maybe a sammich, water bottle and make the journey into an adventure; see how long I end up waiting for an elevator.

An invention born out of convenience and advancements in technology. Elastic and rubber meant waistbands and no longer needing to be “sewn into” your full body of long underwear for the winter.

Where did the term “Long Johns” come from?

The story behind the term is not as cut-and-dry as is the story with jockstraps, nonetheless there are some clever ideas out there.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”8161″ img_size=”500×500″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]One school of thought comes from the foundation of “long johns” being found in Derbyshire, England. There has been a company there with a 225 year history. The story says that John Smedley’s Lea Mills, is the creator of the actual garment and it was then named for heavy weight boxer John L. Sullivan (19th century). The company still does produce long johns.

A second school of thought has been put forward that the term “long johns” comes in fact from the french term for the garment; “longues jambes” (long legs).

A little Canadiana History in the story of long johns. First introduced to 17th century England, becoming popular as sleepwear in the following 18th century; it was near the end of the 19th century when 2 Canadian brothers (Myles and John) created the famous Stanfield’s Unshrinkable Underwear. 07 December 1915 the first pair of long johns were introduced by a Canadian, Frank Stanfield.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Subscribe to SNAP YOUR STRAP” style=”outline-custom” outline_custom_color=”#107aa4″ outline_custom_hover_background=”#db0e00″ outline_custom_hover_text=”#ffffff” size=”sm” align=”right”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”archive article below” color=”success” size=”xs” align=”right” link=”url:%23mb”][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”2″ element_width=”6″ gap=”25″ orderby=”rand” item=”7720″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1666303849763-acf25675-6f1b-1″ taxonomies=”522, 517, 283″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_id=”mb”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”8028″ img_size=”600×50″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Nasty Pig Union Suit has become a yearly tradition with the same 2 questions asked each year. The Nasty Pig Union Suit sets itself apart by being a garment that is not only sexy but constructed to be comfy, cozy and alluring but also functional in more ways that one.

The JC Athletic 3 Inch Jockstrap stepped up to the platform when it was announced that BIKE was discontinuing production.

Jockstrap lovers around the globe were in a “crazy” panic when the announcement came out; BIKE would stop making the classic BIKE jockstrap. The descendant of the original jockstrap designed in 1874 by C.F. Bennet, a bicycle courier in Boston.

The name itself pays homage to Mr Bennet’s profession and the very “spark” that created the jockstrap. How could the company that is responsible for giving us the jockstrap since 1874, be closing up shop?

Fortunately, out of all that “crazy” panic emerged, a really solid jockstrap. Brought to us by a serious jockstrap enthusiast.

Which, makes the story all quite a bit more romantic when you think about the fact that the jockstrap was an invention born of necessity and now the JC Athletic Jockstraps are a product of that necessity but now fuelled by passion.

    The Waistband

Keeping in mind that the jockstrap is an invention of necessity; one could understand why such a wide waistband; which to some is what makes it or breaks it for some jockstrap enthusiasts.

The original jockstrap was designed to provide some comfort from the vigorous jostling one got while cycling down Boston’s cobblestone streets. Not just a healthy romp through the “maze” at the bathhouse or night club. (wink wink)

The technology behind what the jockstrap is intended to do, has been fine-tuned some. We have surely seen vintage photographs of some poor guy in a jockstrap that looks more like an elastic and loincloth wrapped around his area.

The need and intention hasn’t changed. Rather, we have re-addressed solving the problem of “jostled junk” using modern techniques and textiles.

The passage of time as allowed improvements in; technology and the fabrication of both polyester and rubber, design and construction principles and practices. All of which do lend to the superior comfortable fit I get today, from the JC Athletic Jockstrap.

The waistband is extra comfortable against the skin while feeling supportive rather than restrictive. I have a bit of a belly and the wide waistband is not uncomfortable for me to wear at all.

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8085″ img_size=”540×540″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]

Attention to detail: JC Athletic ensures comfort with a super soft waistband. The biggest bonus being, all their tags are on the OUTSIDE of the band.
No rough little scratchy tags to bug your butt crack and lower back!

This is what it is all about really. I mean business in the front and party in the back. Am I right?

Getting back to be serious; the pouch is what a jockstrap is all about. The reason why Bennett created the jockstrap is because he was tired of his junk jostling around all over Boston as he was cycling from customer to customer, over cobblestone streets, delivering packages.

That’s right C. F. Bennet, inventor of the jockstrap; was a BIKE courier. It is all beginning to make sense now, isn’t it?

The JC Athletic 3 Inch Classic Jockstrap pouch is strong. Strong on support and strong on comfort.

When you slide your junk into this pouch and then remind yourself that the entire jockstrap is made of polyester and rubber you are going to be surprised.

Traditionally 2 fabrics not known for “air flow” and never once has my junk felt like it was poaching in a sauna.

Today’s technology has allowed us to say goodbye to the polyester of our past. Which, nobody is really mad at. Frankly, there is some polyester that belongs in the past.

    Consistency

That is what I have come to expect from my JC Athletic Classic 3 Inch Jockstrap. This past February it will be 3 years since JC Athletic launched and I got my hands on the 3 Inch Waistband jockstrap and from the beginning I have truly loved it.

What is best is that it is just as comfortable as it was the first day. Sure it was a bit stiff when I went to try it on as soon as I got it. I was eager to get into it; almost like I was experiencing a moment in jockstrap history; I needed to satisfy my eager curiosity.

After a wash with my other gear and hung to dry and each time I put it on; I felt the same satisfaction I have when pulling on my favourite t-shirt or hoodie.

A jockstrap is a rugged garment and easy to take care of; the thing can handle a lot of abuse, it was built for it.

Wash it and hang it to dry. It will be dry in no time.

This ensures that the fibres (polyester and rubber) don’t break down due to the heat of the dryer — and your jockstrap will be your best buddy.

I look forward to hearing about your experience with JC Athletic Jockstraps — photos too!

When I have shared my “jockstrap coming out” story, I mention that a swimmer jockstrap was my first every jockstrap. Ever since then I have had an extra soft spot for a sleek, clever and simple jockstrap with the slim waistband.

    What is a Swimmer Jockstrap?

Simple answer; it is a jockstrap to be worn under a “bathing” or “swimming” costume.

A many number of years back, when swimming or “public bathing” became a ‘thing’; there was no support in bathing costumes for a gentlemen. With a small adaptation that streamlined the wide waistband jockstrap that the bike courier C. F. Bennett invented in 1874, and we end up with what we have today as the swimmer jockstrap.

With advancements achieved in textiles, such as the invention of the man-made fibres; Spandex, Nylon, Polyester and Elastane we have come leaps and bounds with design in swimming costumes or swim suits, leaving the swimmers jockstrap open to find itself being worn for other sport as well as just as a preference for style.

The JC Athletic Swimmer Jockstrap does have a brother with a 3 inch classic jockstrap waistband as well.

Everything about these 2 pieces is the same for function when it comes to pouch and leg straps. The only difference is the width of the jockstrap waistband and the subsequent rise.

Like with all my gear, I find myself going through phases of what I want to wear when it comes to fashion or fetish. I find the wide and thin waistbands make little difference to the function-ability of the jockstrap. I tend to prefer the lower profile in my gear so I would lean to the JC Athletic Swimmers Jockstrap.

How the JC Athletic Swimmer Jockstrap Performs

This is a proper, honest to goodness sports athletic jock. It has lasted longer, held up better and stayed more comfortable than most of the other jockstraps that fit into the “sports/athletic” category.

I have worn it; swimming, running, walking, to the bar and even to backyard cookout. I have washed it by hand and in the machine, I have hung it to dry and thrown it in with my towels on HIGH in the tumble dryer (not recommended) and the JC Athletic Classic Swimmer Jockstrap has held up like a champ.

If you were to take the 2 JC Athletic Jockstraps from my collection, lay them side by side, you would see that the Swimmer Jockstrap is my favourite.

    Best $15 I ever spent.

Before reading this review on the JC Athletic Classic Swimmer Jockstrap, and if you have not already done so, I invite you to read my review on the “brother” jockstrap; JC Athletic Classic 3 Inch Jockstrap. Simply because everything about the pouch and elastic leg bands in the Swimmer Jockstrap is the same; history, quality, comfort and durability of his wide waistbanded brother.

During my “coming out” story, in relation to jockstraps, I mentioned that a swimmer jockstrap was my first every jockstrap. SNAP THAT STRAP! wink.

First though, we should cover quickly “what is a swimmer jockstrap”?

It is a jockstrap for swimming. Wait wha…?

Yup, that is what I said…a jockstrap for swimming.

Back in the “way olden days” when swimming or “public bathing” became a thing; there was no support for the gentlemen and his friends. So-to-speak. A small adaptation to streamline the jockstrap that the bike courier C. F. Bennett invented in 1874, and we end up with what we see here.

With the advancements in swimsuit design, like what Speedo® has done in the last decades. Remember a Speedo® used to just be wool and men wore swimmer jockstraps underneath. Wet wool! Such Fun!

Thankfully we now have new materials for swimwear. Spandex, Nylon, Polyester, Elastane, to name a few, which all give us not only more supportive swimwear options but fashionable as well.

While sitting and thinking about how I would write this review again; after having the jockstrap for a number of years, it dawned on me that one of the strongest reasons I went for a swimmer jockstrap was because I was very much into bikini, tanga style underwear and I felt the 3 inch waistband was just too cumbersome.

That was just all about style and feel for me back then. I was for sure not in anyway athletic. I liked the way it felt sleek on me but I think this is when I got my first taste of having a proper pouch that held my junk in place but didn’t suffocate my junk. I hated being squished.

JC Athletic took every detail of the original classic swimmer jockstrap and packed it into the this garment. No sacrifice and no compromise.

In fact, I wore it this morning when I went for my first attempt at a 5am run in months. New runners (as you may see on my Insta) but my old faithful JC Athletic Classic Swimmer jockstrap in black; under my running shorts.

If you were to take the 2 JC Athletic Jockstraps from my collection, lay them side by side you would see that the Swimmer Jockstrap is my favourite. Best $15 I ever spent AND look how long I have had it! (They came out Feb’17 I believe.)
